Day 184

Fireworks!!

"Big PaCorn!" - Maggie

We were able to sneak out tonight for a bit to catch the fireworks. Reynoldsburg Fireworks are just down the street from our house… so a little walk! I was surprised at the lack of people, but that was okay with me since we got some great vantage points.

4th of July is always a fun Holiday. It’s one where you can always see people coming together to enjoy a really cool show. It’s the annual symbol of our freedom to do what we want every day.

Dad had a rough day today. He was VERY frustrated that he couldn’t get up and walk. I think that we often take for granted the freedoms that we do have — those that come from a Constitution or those that come from just being able to move, breathe, live. When one is taken away, like walking has been for dad, we aren’t prepared to give it up. It was rough for us to see him dealing with this… and will continue to be. Please continue to pray for his release… this earthbound body isn’t the freedom that my dad wants, or the one that he deserves.

Day 170

The next couple of ??

A Star in Room 409

I came home this weekend to celebrate Father’s Day… It was already a planned trip. Unfortunately, my dad has taken a turn for the worse and has been in the hospital since Monday. His pain continues to increase and therefore, so do the meds. Room 409 will be our home for the next couple of ??

I was really excited today because he was very lucid, alert, we had some fun conversations, and funny conversations. However, I’m not sure how much more of this will be left…

As we begin to just try for comfort, I pray that his pain will subside and he can receive some relief. I praise God that I was able to have this many years with an amazing father. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

I love you dad. Happy Father’s Day.

Day Three

Kermit Rides Away until Holiday 2010

As Christmas rides away, so will Kermit! I love the Muppets, so I played around today by taking some photos of my Christmas ornaments. I have a TON of Muppet ornaments… some might say too many. NEVER!

For this photo, I used my Nikon D70 and my LensBaby 3G lens. The LenBaby is a lens that allows you to blur certain parts of the photo and focus on others. It can only be used manually, which can add to the fun — or the frustration. Check out their website here.
